A new IPA at HOP MAN

Beer pub HOP MAN in the Jukkenzaka area of Chigasaki, Kanagawa, has put Tsugaru Brewing’s “Arigato! IPA” on tap. Brewed as Tsugaru Brewing’s first IPA, the beer is designed to balance vivid hop aroma with a clearly defined bitterness.

What’s in the glass

The recipe uses a blend of five hops: `Warrior`, `Simcoe`, `Nelson Sauvin`, `Idaho 7`, and `Strata`. The grist includes pilsner malt and wheat, plus rice grown in Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture. Local grains account for 15% of the ingredients, which helps give the beer a dry, crisp finish while keeping the hop character front and center.

Key specs:

- Style: IPA
- ABV: 6.0%
- IBU: 45
- Grain: Rice from Tsugaru City, Aomori
- Ingredients: Malt, rice, hops

An IPA with firm bitterness

According to the brewery note excerpted in the post, this beer was built with a stronger bitterness in mind rather than the haze-forward profile that dominates much of today’s IPA market. That means bright hop aroma up front, followed by a more classic, assertive bitter finish.

A guest beer worth watching for in Chigasaki

HOP MAN is a beer pub where guest taps are part of the appeal, and this release fits that role well. If you want to follow the aroma of modern hops without losing the edge of a bitter IPA, “Arigato! IPA” is a release to keep on your radar.
