According to Egre Brewery's latest Instagram post, the brewery has carried out brewing a beer using rice koji as a collaboration with sake brewery Tatsuriki / Honda Shoten.

The post explains that the project is being developed under the rule of "brewing beer using one of the ingredients used by a sake brewery in sake production." Egre Brewery chose rice koji as its ingredient, aiming for a beer that delivers umami while remaining crisp and easy to drink, and says it will take time to complete it.

The finished beer is scheduled to make its first appearance at "Bakuen HYOGO 2026" on April 18 and 19. In addition, keg sales through the e-commerce site are also planned, suggesting that it will be available in ways beyond the event venue.

Egre Brewery is based in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, and was founded in July 2022 as the city's first craft beer brewery. Combining the knowledge of bartenders and brewers, it has promoted beer making that fits alongside meals and different drinking occasions. This collaboration appears to be another move that embodies that "unconstrained way of thinking."

How will ingredients originally used in sake be translated into beer? As a daring glass born in Himeji, this beer is likely to draw attention during the spring event season.
