At The Grafton Beer Pub & Restaurant, located underground in Nishi-Gotanda, `Welsh Faggot` was added to the recommended food menu on May 26. It is a dish of pork, pork liver, and heart meatballs from North Wales, wrapped in caul fat and baked, then finished with a special onion gravy and mashed potatoes. It is easy to imagine the hearty flavor typical of a beer pub.

The guest draft beers tapped that day were two from Shizuoka: Kakegawa Beer's 'Gozo Rokupu Lager' and HORSEHEAD LABS' 'Kambara Hazy.' The shop says, "We want people who have never tried them before to give them a drink," making for a lineup that highlights the character of local breweries.

The permanent draft lineup is also broad. In addition to Guinness, Heineken, Hoegaarden, and Magners Cider, it includes Sankt Gallen's 'YOKOHAMA XPA Real Ale,' Ikari Brewing's 'Irish Red' and 'Scottish Brown Real Ale,' COEDO Brewery's 'Marihana,' Black Sheep's 'BEST BITTER,' Numazu Craft's 'Merseyside ESB,' Uchu Brewing's 'KONBINI IPA,' and Farm & Cidery Kaneshige's 'RICKEY.' One of the shop's strengths is that it lets you move across British classics and Japanese craft beer alike.

The food menu includes raw oysters, lamb Guinness stew pie, spiced grilled pork tongue cartilage, bonito tataki salad, tarako cream spaghettoni, and a house taco rice. It also takes reservations for farewell and welcome parties as well as private events, making it an easy choice for a slow, lingering drinking session in Gotanda.
