Volunteers Sought for the Hop Field

Octone Brewing is recruiting participants for its Hop Harvest Festival 2026. The brewery has announced two dates: Saturday, Aug. 1 and Wednesday, Aug. 5. Rain may force cancellation or postponement. On both days, participants are asked to gather at the shop at 8:30 a.m., start work in the hop field shortly after 9:00 a.m., and finish in the morning.

Based in Minakami, Gunma, the brewery describes its beer as being shaped by the area’s rich nature and the clear water of Okutone. It launched its beer project in 2018, then expanded its focus into agriculture and, in spring 2025, moved into a larger facility where hard cider production also began.

Seen in that context, the hop harvest event is more than a simple announcement. It reflects Octone Brewing’s approach of treating farming and brewing as one continuous process. By inviting people to help harvest hops grown in Minakami, the brewery gives visitors a chance to see how local land, water, and agricultural work connect directly to the beer in the glass. For anyone interested in craft beer from the source, it is a notable seasonal call for participation.
