On February 27, 2026, Tokyo Aleworks announced the release of its new beer, "Megacity Haze," on Instagram. It is the second collaboration brewed with Hatos Bar in Nakameguro, and the style is Hazy IPA. It is designed at 6.5% ABV, 30 IBU, with four hop varieties.
Tokyo Aleworks (Tokyo) unveiled its new beer Megacity Haze in an Instagram post titled "New Release!!...". According to the post, this is the second collaboration brewed together with Hatos Bar in Nakameguro. The style is Hazy IPA, and the specs are as follows.
- Style: Hazy IPA
- ABV: 6.5%
- IBU: 30
- Hops: Idaho 7 / Vista / Southern Cross / Columbus
In terms of tasting direction, the beer is designed to emphasize stone fruit at the core, with notes of lemon and sweet grapefruit, plus a "dank" backbone. Rather than leaning only into juiciness, it reads as a modern hazy that retains a firm center of aroma and bitterness.
According to the brewery's official information, Tokyo Aleworks opened its brewery in Itabashi in 2018 and has developed under the slogan "Be The Craft Revolution." Its stance of pursuing new forms while respecting tradition has also led to collaborations like this one with a Tokyo bar. In addition, the company operates two taprooms, its Itabashi flagship and Yurakucho location, making it easy to experience new releases in actual service.
Rather than being just a one-off limited release, Megacity Haze is likely to become one of this season's notable beers as a release that connects Tokyo's dining scene with a local brewery.
