Tokyo Aleworks releases collaboration IPA "By the Bay IPA" with Vallejo Brewing
Tokyo Aleworks introduced its new collaboration with Vallejo Brewing Company, "In Cahoots Vol 7: By the Bay IPA." It is described as a West Coast IPA with a crisp finish layered with impressions of citrus, pineapple, and dank character.
Tokyo Aleworks, which has been brewing in Itabashi, Tokyo since 2018, announced its collaboration beer "In Cahoots Vol 7 : By the Bay IPA" with U.S.-based Vallejo Brewing Company. In the post, they expressed their joy at being able to brew together with Vallejo Brewing, a close friend, and the write-up carries a strong sense of continuity as part of the series.
This beer is a West Coast IPA. Its specs are ABV 7.0% / IBU 50, and the hops used are Cryo Citra, Incognito Centennial, Idaho 7 CGX, and Quantum Mosaic. According to the description, it was built using only cryo hops and liquid hops, resulting in a punchy IPA with plenty of intensity.
As for the tasting impression, bright citrus comes through, along with notes of tangerine and pineapple, and a pleasant dankness lingers at the end. It delivers the clearly defined hop character expected of a West Coast IPA, with a distinct flow from the aroma through the finish.
Tokyo Aleworks is a brewery based in Itabashi that promotes a mission of "connecting Tokyo and the world through craft." It currently operates taprooms at its Itabashi flagship location and in Yurakucho, and it actively works with American-style and hop-forward beers. This collaboration is another beer that naturally reflects that direction.
