Good Wolf Brewery, based in Higashiyoshino Village, Nara, introduced a new strawberry wheat beer called WheatBerry on Instagram. In the post, the brewery says it uses Asuka Ruby strawberries from Fujiwara Farm in Asuka Village and aims for a juicy, light, and dry finish.

The brewery’s official site describes its beers as being brewed with fresh mountain water and local ingredients. That local-first approach runs through its core lineup, including ROUROU, a Yoshino cedar pale ale; Yuzu Beer; Kuro Wolf, a hojicha stout; and MIPA, a deep-mountain IPA. The same philosophy also appears in its fruit-forward releases.

On its online shop, Good Wolf Brewery also features Asuka Fuzzberry, a strawberry cider-and-beer fusion made with Asuka Ruby strawberries from the same Fujiwara Farm. WheatBerry appears to fit naturally into that lineup, extending the brewery’s work with regional produce.

The Instagram post also included taproom hours, suggesting the beer was ready to pour around the time of the update. For drinkers interested in locally sourced seasonal beers, WheatBerry is another clear example of how the brewery ties ingredients to place.
