PEDROLINO taps FLORA FERMENTATION's "Golem"; spring guest kegs are in full swing
At PEDROLINO (Pedrolino) in Osaka, FLORA FERMENTATION's "Golem" has been newly tapped. Along with talk of spring dishes featuring bamboo shoots, the lineup offers a wide range of guest beers on draft and by the glass.
PEDROLINO, located in Andoji-cho, Chuo Ward, Osaka, is a beer pub where you can enjoy Italian dishes made with seasonal ingredients alongside craft beer. In this post, the shop highlights bamboo shoots, a spring ingredient, and a seasonal plate built around them as part of an appetizer assortment, showing the kind of food-and-beer pairing the place does so well.
The main highlight this time is the new tap of Golem (FLORA FERMENTATION / Shiga). A Czech-style pilsner, it is a classic lager brewed with floor-malted malt and finished using decoction mashing. It is described as a straightforward but well-made beer, with a gentle herbal aroma, a light and easy-drinking feel, deep malt sweetness, and refined bitterness.
The beer lineup for the day is also wide-ranging. On draft are KLO-03 (ONEs BREWERY / Osaka), a Kölsch with oregano; Dark Nichelada (LIBUSHI Bashamichi / Kanagawa), an amber ale with lime and jalapeño; and Winter Lambic (Oud Beersel / Belgium), a straight lambic with pine buds.
In addition, the stocked beers include UNDERWATER (Nara Brewing / Nara), a sake yeast ale; Charcoal-Grilled MILD ALE (Shima Brewery / Mie), a mild ale with coffee beans; Hanami Gose (CHORYO / Nara), a fruit gose with pickled cherry blossom and cherries; and Mountain Beach (CRAFT ROCK x riip / Tokyo), a West Coast pilsner.
What makes PEDROLINO interesting is that, while it is centered on Italian food, it spans everything from lager to lambic to gose. It is an easy place to stop in for a quick drink alone or to settle in for a meal, and one that makes you want to enjoy the combination of spring dishes and guest beers.
