New on Tap

At HOP MAN in Chigasaki, Nara Brewing's 'UNDERWATER' has been newly tapped. The shop is on the 2nd floor of Sunrize Shonan in Jengasaka, Chigasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and it's the kind of place you want to stop by and look forward to the rotation of guest beers.

'UNDERWATER' is a SAKE YEAST BEER created in collaboration with Kaze no Mori, a sake brewery in Nara. ABV 11.0%, IBU 0, and the malt is Pilsner Malt. It is brewed using sake yeast, brewing water, and soyashi water, and is built to translate sake-derived elements into beer form.

The 2026 version is fermented at a lower temperature for a longer period than before, resulting in a finish with a gently lingering ginjo aroma. The drinking impression is slightly sharp and dry, yet it also carries a sweetness from the alcohol, with fruity aromas reminiscent of strawberries and apples coming through clearly.

Encountering guest kegs like this at a beer pub such as HOP MAN is one of the great pleasures for drinkers. While enjoying the layered aroma that is characteristic of craft beer, you can also catch the nuances of sake, making this especially appealing for anyone looking for a beer with a strong emphasis on aroma.
