VANAVASA features mountainman IPA, a 5.5% anniversary IPA
VANAVASA, a beer pub in Kamakura’s Onari-cho, introduced mountainman IPA, the 2nd-anniversary beer for Sapporo outdoor restaurant mountainman. The India Pale Ale comes in at 5.5% ABV and uses Sabro hops for a woodier, hop-forward profile.
VANAVASA, a beer pub in Kamakura’s Onari-cho, is featuring mountainman IPA as a guest beer. The beer was brewed to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of mountainman, an outdoor restaurant in southern Sapporo, and it follows the previous 1st-anniversary beer made by Streetlight Brewing brewer Kawamura.
The beer is an India Pale Ale at 5.5% ABV. Sabro is the main hop, and the recipe increases the hop load to bring out a more woody aroma. The listed ingredients are barley malt, wheat malt, hops, and sugar. For drinkers who like a clearly hop-driven IPA, the specs alone make this an interesting one.
mountainman is known for its outdoor setting: a walk through a forest path from the end of the subway line, a food truck with a proper kitchen, a garden for wood-fired BBQ, and a tent sauna by the river on the property. The idea behind the beer is to carry that atmosphere beyond Hokkaido and into bars and homes across Japan.
For a beer pub like VANAVASA, that kind of guest beer adds more than just another tap line. It gives drinkers a beer with place, story, and intent behind it, which is exactly the kind of pint many beer fans want to know more about.
