VANAVASA, a craft beer bar in Kamakura’s Onarimachi district, is serving Yorocco Beer’s barrel-aged release, “Y/B/A/P #008 Barrel Aged Blackbird Sipping.”
The beer is a Barrel Aged Brux Porter with an ABV of 7%. Built on a porter base and aged in wooden barrels, it combines roasted malt character with woody barrel notes and the complex aromas associated with Brettanomyces and extended maturation.
Pouring a deep black, the beer develops layers of roast, gentle acidity, subtle sweetness, and an earthy, wild-yeast-like complexity. It is a beer to enjoy slowly, allowing its aroma and mouthfeel to evolve as it warms. Drinkers who prefer darker, more contemplative beers will find plenty to explore in the glass.
VANAVASA is a compact beer shop and bar near Kamakura Station, known for its rotating draft selection as well as a broad range of cans and bottles. Guests can enjoy beer by the glass, stop in for a casual standing-bar drink, or take draft beer home in a growler. Its relaxed atmosphere makes it an easy stop during a walk around Kamakura.
Barrel-aged beers may be available in limited quantities, so checking the latest tap list before visiting is recommended.
