OGA BREWING COMPANY releases new Kodaira-themed "Red Post IPA"
On May 10, OGA BREWING COMPANY released its new "Red Post IPA," inspired by Kodaira's urban agriculture and Tokyo's "round red postboxes." With a sunset-colored hue and layers of rounded bitterness and biscuit notes, it is an IPA with a strong sense of story.
OGA BREWING COMPANY has released its new "Red Post IPA." This is the third installment in a series themed around Kodaira, a city where urban agriculture thrives, and it distills affection for Tokyo's many remaining "round red postboxes" into beer.
Poured into a glass, it shows a color reminiscent of a sunset sky with a slight orange tint. The aroma and bitterness have the presence you expect from an IPA, but the edges are not too sharp and there is a certain softness. The malt bill uses RED-X, Maris Otter, and Munich, while the hops combine Columbus, Cascade, Chinook, and Amarillo. ABV is 6.0%, IBU is 53, and the serving size is 350 ml. The price is 770 yen (tax included).
On the official website, it is introduced as having a flavor that brings back a nostalgic biscuit-like character. What makes this beer interesting is that it is designed to include even the scene of slowly drinking it while writing a letter and wanting to drop it into a retro round red postbox.
OGA BREWING COMPANY is a brewery based in Mitaka that aims to deliver surprise and enjoyment even to people drinking craft beer for the first time. Its approach is to build each beer around the question of what kind of occasion you would want to drink it in, and it is also distinctive for attaching a short short story to each product. This new release, which conveys local scenery and memories through both flavor and story, is a strong reflection of that philosophy.
