A brewpub with an on-site brewery, where you can enjoy beer in Minami-Aizu Tajima

"Minami-Aizu Mountain Brewing / Taproom BeerFridge" in the Aizu-Tajima area of Minami-Aizu Town, Minami-Aizu District, Fukushima Prefecture, is an inviting brewpub where you can taste beer right on the spot. The brewery started with a small brew size in 2018, and in March 2024 it also began brewing at a new factory. As a locally rooted brewery, it is known for producing a wide range of beers, from standard styles to more distinctive ones.

Among the brewery's recommended items, the first standouts are its staple Minami-Aizu IPA and Minami-Aizu Pale Ale. Minami-Aizu IPA offers fruity notes reminiscent of orange and tangerine, along with the bitterness typical of an IPA. Minami-Aizu Pale Ale shines with a gentle citrus character and a well-balanced profile that makes it something you could drink every day.

Other offerings include SAISON, finished lightly with rice flour; POWPOW, combining American and New Zealand hops; BOGEN, with a pleasant malt presence; and Hey Ya!, with a clean, dry finish. There is also ANNIE, with aromas that evoke dark-roasted coffee and chocolate; SNOW SURF, made crisp with pilsner malt, wheat, and rice; and GRULEUR, which has the rounded feel of wheat and an impression reminiscent of cider, making for a remarkably broad range of flavors.

The appeal of this place is that, in a single taproom, you can move from bitterness-forward IPAs to light saisons, to toasty dark styles, and even crisp lager-like drinks. Drinking beer made in Minami-Aizu in a brewpub in Aizu-Tajima is, in itself, the best way to enjoy this place.
