Beer Tsukasa, a craft beer pub in Uji, Kyoto, has tapped Ise Kado’s limited release Nikukyu IPA Returns. Built as a dry West Coast IPA for meat pairings, the beer combines expressive hop aromas with a crisp, clean finish.
Beer Tsukasa, a beer pub in Uji, Kyoto, has announced the tapping of Ise Kado’s Nikukyu IPA Returns. The pub’s Instagram post states that the beer is now on tap.
Nikukyu IPA Returns is a renewed version of Nikukyu IPA, originally brewed as Ise Kado’s 29th-anniversary beer. The name is a play on the Japanese reading of 29, “niku,” meaning meat. Its concept is straightforward: a beer designed to pair particularly well with meat dishes. The beer is a West Coast IPA at 6.0% ABV and 50 IBU.
It pours a straw-gold color with a slight haze. Aromas of passion fruit, mango, and citrus lead into a subtle dank character. On the palate, lively carbonation carries juicy hop flavors, while the finish remains clean, dry, and easy to refresh the palate.
The beer’s base of pilsner malt and rice contributes a light, crisp body, allowing the hop character to come forward without heaviness. It should work especially well with grilled or roasted meat, where its aromatic hops and firm finish can complement savory flavors and richness. Tasting it on its own first, then alongside a meat dish, would offer two distinct perspectives on the beer.
Beer Tsukasa is located in Uji Myoraku, making this limited IPA an appealing stop for craft beer fans exploring the area. Tap availability and food pairings may change, so guests should confirm current service details with the pub before visiting.
