A Two-Day Event for Gion Festival Season

GION Yamaneko Izakaya SAKE & BEER, a beer pub in Kyoto's Gion district, will host a summer festival event on July 14 and 15. The venue is set inside a former tea house with about 150 years of history, and the bar focuses on Kyoto-made craft beer and sake.

Free Takoyaki Is the Main Attraction

The centerpiece of the event is free takoyaki served by the owner, Mr. Muragishi. Freshly made takoyaki will be offered from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on July 14, and from 1:00 PM until closing on July 15. Muragishi is also the owner of Kyoto Beer Lab, so the setup naturally invites beer talk over snacks.

The House IPA Will Be Sold in Cans

During the festival period, Yamaneko's original beer, A-SIDE LOVE West Coast IPA, will also be available in cans. The beer is described as tropical and citrusy, with a crisp, refreshing West Coast IPA profile. It is priced at 1,000 yen per can, making it easy to take along while walking around the festival area.

July 14 Only: Chicken Tempura

Food offerings also include Yamaneko's special chicken tempura, available only on July 14. The event will also feature yo-yo fishing and ramune soda, with the staff welcoming guests in yukata. The whole setup is clearly designed to match the atmosphere of the Gion Festival.
