GION Yamaneko to host summer festival on July 14-15, with house IPA in cans
GION Yamaneko in Kyoto’s Gion district will hold a two-day summer festival on July 14 and 15. The event includes can sales of its house beer, A-SIDE LOVE West Coast IPA, along with free takoyaki and chicken tempura available only on July 14.
Summer festival in Gion
GION Yamaneko (GION TACHINOMI Yamaneko), located at 321-1 Gioncho Kitagawa in Kyoto’s Higashiyama ward, will host its "GION Yamaneko Summer Festival" on July 14 and 15. The timing aligns with the Gion Festival, turning the storefront into a small summer celebration centered on food and beer.
Beer on offer
The featured beer is the house original A-SIDE LOVE West Coast IPA. The post describes it as tropical and citrusy, with a crisp, refreshing finish. It will be sold in cans during the festival period, priced at JPY 1,000 each, making it an easy beer to take along while walking through the festival area.
Food and atmosphere
Owner Mr. Muragishi will serve free takoyaki, and he is also the owner of Kyoto Beer Lab, so beer talk is part of the appeal as well. On July 14 only, the popular Yamaneko special chicken tempura will also be available.
Staff will be in yukata, and ramune soda plus yo-yo fishing will be offered for children. It is a simple, grounded festival setup: eat, drink, and enjoy Gion with a can of beer in hand.
