Two Bottles Arrive

Two long-aged series beers from Uchu Brewing (Hokuto, Yamanashi Prefecture) have lined up at "Japan's Craft Beer Koguma Saketen Sendai Station East Exit Main Store" in the Sendai Station East Exit area. In the store's Instagram post, both are described as having a shelf life of more than three years, and the recommended way to enjoy them is not to chill them too much, but to let them warm slightly and savor the aroma.

1. Labyrinth

A black barley wine. This bottle is a blend of barrel-aged beers that were matured for over two years in Heaven Hill Bourbon and Jim Beam Double Oak Bourbon barrels, resulting in a complex, rich flavor. It is described as layering dark caramel with fruity notes like plum and raisin. 375 ml bottle.

2. GENESIS

A barrel-aged imperial stout. This label blends stout base beers with different characteristics, aged for up to 32 months in rum barrels, Heaven Hill barrels, and Buffalo Trace barrels, producing a dense finish with aromas of chocolate, bourbon, and roastiness. This one is also available in a 375 ml bottle.

Koguma Saketen is the kind of shop that specializes in craft beer, and its appeal lies in offering guidance not only on what to drink, but also on when to drink it and how to enjoy it. These two bottles are less about quenching your thirst and more about slowly appreciating the aroma and the barrel-born depth. They are worth watching for, not only for anyone looking for a spring beer, but also as a gift idea for a special occasion.
