Nanki Shirahama Nagisa Beer Continues Rolling Out “Soramai” as Its 2026 Airport Beer
Nanki Shirahama Nagisa Beer will continue offering this season’s “Airport Beer,” a collaboration with the “Shirahama Hop Project,” which was born from the greening initiative at Nanki Shirahama Airport. For 2026, no public call will be held for the name or label design, and the company has said it will carry forward the same design used for the 2025 selection, “Soramai ~SORAMAI~.”
According to a post from Nanki Shirahama Nagisa Beer, the spring staple project known as “Airport Beer” is back again this year. At its core is the Shirahama Hop Project, launched in 2022 as part of the greening initiative at Nanki Shirahama Airport. It is an effort that uses hops grown at the airport to connect the region’s gateway to the sky with craft beer.
In previous years, the project has publicly solicited both the beer name and label design every year, but this year no open call will be held. Instead, the company will continue using the 2025 name, “Soramai ~SORAMAI~,” along with last year’s label design. The decision to keep the same branding also suggests an aim to build recognition for the label.
“Soramai ~SORAMAI~” is characterized by a name that evokes the blue skies of Nanki Shirahama. In Nagisa Beer’s official product description, the style is Golden Ale and the alcohol content is 5.0%. It is designed to deliver a fresh, crisp drinking experience with a soft malty aftertaste, making it a beer that pairs well with the story behind hops grown at the airport.
Rooted in Wakayama and Shirahama, Nagisa Beer was founded in 1996 and began brewing in 1997. It is a brewery that has continued to create beer that fits both Shirahama as a tourist destination and everyday meals at home. This continued “Airport Beer” release is also likely to draw attention again this year as a “Shirahama-style collaboration model” that brings together regional hop cultivation, an airport as a public space, and the brewing expertise of a local brewery.
