From RIKRI BREWING in Takaban, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, in the Gakugei Daigaku area, comes an American Pale Ale called "No Interruption." Its ABV is 5.5%.
The beer was originally conceived with Clayton Hops' new hop variety "CIP076" as the star, but a shipment of Crop 2025 hops arrived a few days after brewing, prompting the dry hop bill to be changed to Strata and Quantum Citra. It is a beer reworked to take advantage of timing, with the brewer following the policy of wanting to use hops as soon as they arrive.
The flavor is anchored by Strata. In the post, it is explained that rather than the sweeter impression it has often carried, this time it brings a sharper, yuzu-like citrus expression to the forefront. Quantum Citra, meanwhile, does not play the role of making the aroma flamboyant; instead, it helps define the shape of the beer as a flavor that spreads after swallowing. The result is a Pale Ale that balances drinkability with a quality that keeps you from getting tired of it.
The malts are IREKS Pilsner and Weyermann Pilsner, and the yeast is BRY-97. A simple base allows the hop character to stand out clearly. The name "No Interruption" comes from a Hoodie Allen song and was chosen to suggest something you can keep drinking glass after glass.
If you're looking around Gakugei Daigaku for an American Pale Ale with a clearly articulated use of hops, this one from RIKRI BREWING is worth a look.
