The Current State of Domestic Craft to Enjoy in Oimachi

The brewery Canal brewing in Oimachi, Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, has published its latest tap list. Canal brewing operates as Oimachi's first brewery and craft beer specialty shop, and its defining feature is a standing-bar style space centered on beer. From the lighting and sound system to the counter, the design is meant to make beer look its best, and glasses are available in multiple sizes.

The highlight of the day is first its house-brewed C #3 (IPA). That is followed by a lineup of distinctive labels from around the country. For example, Shiga Kogen Beer’s SNOW MONKEY IPA (Hazy IPA), CAMADO BREWERY’s Kamadaki Monogatari, First Movement: The Ignition Ritual (West Coast IPA), and CRAFT BANK’s BLOSSOM SYNDICATE (Hazy Pale Ale) make up a selection that invites you to compare the differences in hop character and aroma.

In addition, Oni Densetsu’s Mosaic Single Ver. (Pale Ale), Matsumoto Brewery’s OLD SHILLING Scottish Heavy (Scottish Ale), Green Neighbors Hard Cider’s ALL. Eighteen Types of Apples (Hard Cider), and RIOT BEER’s DarkLands -Nitro Ver- (Belgian Stout) are also on offer. From the sharp finish of IPA to the calm maltiness of Scottish ale, the fruitiness of hard cider, and the smooth mouthfeel of nitro stout, the range of flavors is quite broad.

There is also movement in cans, with Isekadoya Beer bringing in FC TOKYO PALE ALE (Pale Ale) and Another Cut (Hazy IPA). The latter is a collaboration with VERTERE, so you can enjoy a meeting of popular breweries not only on tap but also in cans.

Canal brewing is known as a shop where the owner travels widely around the country drinking craft beer and serves the labels selected from those outings. With up to 10 taps, it is also appealing that you can aim for a well-maintained pour that is managed carefully according to the day's condition. In Oimachi, it can be said to be an ideal spot to check out the domestic craft beers you want to drink right now all at once.
