One beer that explores its character through a comparative brew

At HAZY LABO in Shin-Sayama, Sayama City, Saitama Prefecture, the collaboration Hazy "Nelson + Terps" with Beer Boy Shibuya PARCO is being introduced. This time, it comes as a split batch with two versions, a 20°C fermentation version and a 38°C fermentation version, to see how differences in fermentation temperature appear in the aroma and flavor.

The taste of Nelson + Terps

The hops used are Nelson Sauvin and mega terpenes. In posts and sales information, notes reminiscent of black grapes and a grape-like aroma are discussed as the theme. Unlike a typical Hazy built mainly around Citra or Mosaic, this one has a composition that brings HAZY LABO's experimental spirit to the forefront. The alcohol content is 6.5%.

The 38°C fermentation version is finished with an eye toward how much grape character can be drawn out through ambient-temperature aging, while the 20°C fermentation version is positioned as a comparison point that brings the flavor's contours into focus. Both are designed not simply to be thick, but to let you enjoy hop-derived aroma and changes brought about by aging.

HAZY LABO as a place

HAZY LABO is known as a brewery that continues to brew in a research-driven way, specializing in Hazy IPA. Another attraction is that you can drink in the in-house tasting room, and beer lovers can enjoy not only the recipe's intent but also the differences revealed by side-by-side tasting. This Nelson + Terps is also something you experience not just by drinking the finished beer, but by comparing the different fermentation temperatures themselves.

What makes it appealing to drinkers

This beer is suited to people who find interest less in rich fruitiness and more in the hop combinations and differences in fermentation. HAZY LABO's signature stance of "researching Hazy" is distilled directly into a single glass.
