Syuchinikurin, a beer pub in Musashi-Koyama, posted on Instagram that it has plenty of its three-item shumai platter available today. It is a straightforward announcement, but it also reflects what the shop is built around: steamed Chinese dishes served alongside beer.

According to the shop's official information, the shumai lineup includes kaibashira shumai, tofu shumai, kinshi shumai, and the three-item platter. The scallop-based kaibashira shumai is introduced as a dish with a strong umami character, and it is clearly designed to work well with beer.

The beer selection is the other major draw. Syuchinikurin says it keeps about 80 Kansai craft beers on hand, with bottled and canned beers brought in from across the Kansai region. Rather than a single flagship pour, the appeal is the range: beer drinkers can compare styles, or simply ask the staff for a recommendation based on what they want to drink that night.

The room itself has a neon, near-future feel, with counter seating for solo drinking and tables for small groups. It is about a 3-minute walk from Musashi-Koyama Station East Exit, and it stays open until 2:00 a.m., making it a practical stop for an after-work beer and a plate of shumai.

What to drink

If you want a concrete beer-and-food pairing here, start with the shumai platter and ask for a Kansai craft beer with a clean finish. The shop's strength is not one named beer, but a broad regional lineup that gives you room to explore.
