Rikka Introduces “Hamanasu Ale” Made with Barley from Urahoro Town and Beach Rose
Rikka, a craft beer brand based in Nishi Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido, introduced its new “Hamanasu Ale” on Instagram. It can be shipped from May 8, and it will also begin being served at a restaurant in Tokyo.
New release that makes use of ingredients from Urahoro
On Instagram, Rikka introduced “Hamanasu Ale (Saisa).” In the post, the beer is presented as being made with ingredients from Urahoro Town: barley from `@asahi.agri.action`, beach rose from `@rosarugosa_ciokay`, and brewing by `@rikka.369`.
Shipping is said to be available from May 8, and purchases are being accepted via the web. The word “Saisa” in the product name evokes the seasonality of beach rose, while also suggesting a composition that puts the individuality of the ingredients front and center.
Context as a Sapporo-born brand
Rikka is a craft beer brand based in Nishi Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido. On its official website, it has emphasized “enriching the soil” and has focused on ingredient production and ties with the local community. The brand name, derived from “rikka,” meaning snow crystal, also reflects the idea of expanding circles of people and regions through beer.
Retail rollout also announced
The post also announced that the beer will be carried at `@leffervescence`, the three-Michelin-star restaurant in Yoyogi-Uehara, Tokyo. With distribution now extending to dining establishments in the Kanto region, opportunities to try beer made with Hokkaido ingredients outside the prefecture appear to be expanding.
