Seasonal Blueberry Ale from August 1

On July 21, Meinschloss announced on Instagram that its seasonal Hamamatsu Beer release, Blueberry Ale, will go on sale starting August 1. According to the post, this year's batch again uses Hamamatsu-grown blueberries, with fruit provided by Green Maintenance that could not be shipped. By switching to an earlier-ripening variety, the brewery moved the release from autumn into the summer blueberry season.

Flavor profile

The beer is described as crisp and distinctly beer-like, while still offering a rich and vibrant berry aroma. It also carries a light bitterness, making it an easy match for food rather than a dessert-style fruit beer. The fruit character is present, but the beer is not overly sweet, which should make it approachable for drinkers who want a seasonal fruit ale with balance.

What to drink at Meinschloss

Meinschloss, located in central Hamamatsu, serves four regular house beers: Weizen, Alt, Schwarz, and Helles. Blueberry Ale adds a seasonal option to that core lineup, giving visitors a reason to return throughout the year. The post also notes that Lemon Ale will be available at the same time, making it a good chance to compare two fruit beers side by side. It is the kind of lineup that fits a brewery restaurant: familiar German-style standards alongside a limited seasonal brew tied to local ingredients.
