DD4D Brewing, based in Matsuyama, Ehime, has brought back "Emma," a revival of a beer originally brewed to celebrate the birth of head brewer Mike's third daughter. The 6.0% Lavender Hazy IPA blends French lavender with citrusy, peach-like hop notes and a gentle acidity.
Limited Release Starting June 18
DD4D Brewing in Matsuyama, Ehime, has reintroduced Emma, a lavender-forward Hazy IPA. Sales began on 2026-06-18, and the beer is available through the brewery's online store, taproom, and partner retailers.
About Emma
This release is a revival of a beer first brewed in honor of Mike, DD4D's head brewer, and his third daughter Emma. The style is Lavender Hazy IPA with 6.0% ABV and 10 IBU, keeping bitterness low and the focus on aroma and texture.
The brewery describes the beer as opening with an elegant French lavender aroma, followed by a sweet hop finish that recalls citrus, peach, and coconut. Lactose is used in the recipe, but the beer is said to avoid excessive sweetness and stay refined.
A DD4D-Style Release
The ingredient list includes malt, oats, sugar, hops, wheat, and lavender. The hop bill features Simcoe, Motueka, and Sabro, while the malt base uses Pilsen, Wheat, Flaked Oats, and Unmalted Wheat. The result appears designed to balance a soft Hazy IPA body with a clearly defined floral profile.
