Ibusuki Brewery (Ibusuki City, Kagoshima Prefecture) will begin selling its craft beer "Orange ALE," made with Kiyomi oranges from Iwasaki Farm, on April 29. In an Instagram post, the brewery also announced that, in addition to the bottled product, it can be enjoyed as draft beer at the abandoned school kitchen "Mugi to Niwa" on the brewery grounds.

The brewery operates on the site of the former Tokumitsu Elementary School. It renovated the old school building and runs the space as a combination of a craft beer brewery and the abandoned school kitchen "Mugi to Niwa." Its official website also states a policy of making beers that make use of local ingredients and seasonal character, and it produces limited releases using fruit as well.

This Orange ALE is an easy-to-understand example of using local ingredients in a way that feels true to Ibusuki. Beer fans who like fruit beers will likely be curious about how the aroma and fruitiness of Kiyomi oranges have been translated into beer. In addition to taking a bottle home, it also seems like a fun option to try the draft version on site and compare the flavor.

The post also mentioned the first-anniversary event scheduled for May 17. The brewery said introductions of the vendors will begin next week, and starting with the April 29 release, the conversation will carry from Golden Week into the anniversary event. Enjoying a drink made with local fruit in a space reborn from a former school is what makes Ibusuki Brewery distinctive.
