Ibusuki Brewery in Ibusuki, Kagoshima, is expanding its summer offerings with Tokumitsu watermelon. In an Instagram post, the brewery showed staff enjoying watermelon grown by the farm team, and another post introduced Tokumitsu watermelon served as a small side dish after being used in the brewing of its "Suika Ale." The approach suggests a clear effort to avoid waste and make full use of local ingredients.

The brewery itself operates in a renovated former Tokumitsu Elementary School and includes the adjacent kitchen space "Mugi to Niwa." On its official site, the brewery says it makes beer that reflects the climate and seasonal changes of the area, using local ingredients throughout the year. It also emphasizes the work of its female brewmaster, making the project as much about place and people as about beer.

The summer lineup goes beyond beer. On July 19, 2026, the brewery announced two limited items: Tokumitsu Watermelon Gelato and Tokumitsu Watermelon Smoothie. Both are described as seasonal products made with plenty of sweet local watermelon. The brewery also confirmed that its beer fair would continue through July, with 100 yen off both bottled and draft beer.

Taken together, the posts and official announcements show a consistent seasonal strategy: using local fruit in beer, desserts, and lunch service within a school-turned-brewery setting. For beer fans, it is a neat example of how a regional brewery can turn summer ingredients into a broader food-and-drink experience.
