New Batch of a Staple Beer Layered with the Character of Japanese Black Tea

Fete Mishima Brewery in Mishima, Shizuoka has released a new batch of its beer promoted as its top-selling "Japanese Black Tea Amber Lager." Sales have started through BBJ for business customers, stores for individual customers, and direct sales at the brewery.

This beer is an amber lager inspired by Mount Fuji tinted by the sunset as seen from Mishima. On the product page, it is introduced as a beer made with Japanese black tea from Mishima Katsumataen, combining malt, hops, and white koji. It has an alcohol content of 5.5% and an IBU of 28. Its aroma ranges widely, including toast, roasted nuts, lemon peel, cookies, oolong tea, and caramel, while the drinking experience is crisp, with the roasty character of malt and the complexity of Japanese black tea layered together.

Fete Mishima Brewery is located in a space near Mishima Station that was renovated from an old house and a sheet metal workshop, and together with the adjoining restaurant allez, it has been creating a food and drink space that makes use of local ingredients. On its official website, it is introduced as a brewery that makes craft beer and fruit sparkling drinks using Mishima water and ingredients from Izu.

An amber lager that makes use of the nuances of Japanese black tea pairs well with sausages, salt-seasoned grilled dishes, and light Japanese meals. For those who want to enjoy it as a drink with food, this new batch seems likely to be a beer worth picking up again.
