Tap List for April 8

15brewery in Horiuchi, Hayama Town, Kanagawa, prepared five beers for growler fills on April 8, with takeout sales only. The standing bar is currently closed, but if you have a sealable bottle, they will fill it to the brim; carbonated PET bottles and screw-cap glass bottles are also accepted.

The beers on tap this time were "Bottom of the Swamp," a Belgian-style beer; "Stout," a dark beer; "Orange Ale," a fruit beer; "Wheat Land," a wheat-forward beer; and "Raw Hazy IPA," an IPA.

"Bottom of the Swamp" uses plenty of wheat malt, along with orange peel, coriander seed, chamomile, and cloves, plus lime from Owase, Mie Prefecture, and honey from Hachigoya in Nagai, Yokosuka City. It is designed with layers of gentle sweetness, tartness, and spice, making it an easy fit for the unsettled weather of early spring. Next up, "Stout" is a dark beer with deep richness, while "Orange Ale" stands out as a fruit beer with bright citrus aroma and acidity.

"Wheat Land" and "Raw Hazy IPA" are notable for using baguettes from Miura bakery Mitsumugi as part of the ingredients. The former has a light drinkability with hop aromas reminiscent of white wine; the latter is brewed with the Raw Ale method, meaning the wort is not boiled, allowing you to enjoy citrus and pine-needle aromas along with bitterness. Against the backdrop of ingredients from the Hayama-Yokosuka area, these locally brewed beers are best taken home and savored slowly.
