Repubrew Announces "Wano Nigori IPA" Using Sake Yeast, Sales to Begin This Week
Shizuoka-based Repubrew (Natural Roots Studio) has announced a new beer, "Wano Nigori IPA," made with sake yeast. As part of a collaboration project led by Nara's Choryo Brewery, wholesale sales are scheduled to begin on the day of the post, with e-commerce sales set to start on Sunday. A related event is also planned for the weekend at the Numazu shop.
In a Repubrew Instagram post dated March 25, 2026, the company announced the release of its first beer using sake yeast, "Wano Nigori IPA." The style is SAKE-YEAST HAZY IPA. As part of a project led by Choryo Brewery in Nara Prefecture, Repubrew joined a nationwide collaboration that brings sake elements into craft beer.
The flavor described in the post features a smooth mouthfeel reminiscent of nigori sake, a gentle sweetness like muskmelon, and a clean, lingering finish that evokes sake. The key idea is a design that layers the juiciness of a hazy IPA with nuances derived from sake yeast.
On the design side, the label reflects "Japanese-ness" and "Mishima-ness," using a traditional motif called Mishima pattern. The approach brings out the sense of "wa" not only through the liquid design but also through the visual presentation.
As for the sales schedule, the post says wholesale sales start the same day, while e-commerce sales are planned to begin on Sunday. In addition, an event is scheduled for the weekend at Repubrew's Numazu shop. There is also an announcement that three breweries will be selected from the 10 collaborators - Choryo Craft Beer, Sakazuki Brewing, and Matsue Beer Hearn - and put on tap, making it a noteworthy release in a tasting-comparison context.
Repubrew is a Shizuoka-based brewery that continues to communicate through its Numazu and Mishima locations and its e-commerce business. Natural Roots Studio, in particular, has established a presence as an experimental category that includes spirits as well as beer. This "Wano Nigori IPA" can be seen as a collaborative release that adds a new move - sake yeast - to that context.
