“Luna” Introduced at OHLOY STORE
OHLOY STORE, located in Uchimachi, Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, is a taproom and bottle shop run directly by OHLOY BREWING. In addition to eight draft taps, it sells cans and bottles and also serves espresso drinks, making it a place not only to drink beer but also to relax like a coffee stand.
The beer introduced on Instagram this time was OHLOY BREWING’s “Luna.” Its style is Dark Lager, and its ABV is 4.5%. In the caption, the brewery said it aimed for a smooth dark beer you’d want to drink every day. To keep down the sharp acidity that many people dislike in dark beers, it uses Cold Steeping, extracting the dark malts with a water infusion starting the day before brewing.
German Merkur and Czech Saaz hops are used. Aiming for a clean, herbal impression, the beer is fermented at low temperatures with a straightforward lager yeast, bringing the whole profile together with a traditional feel. Designed with drinkability more than flashiness in mind, it seems like something even people new to dark beer could pick up easily.
OHLOY STORE’s appeal also lies in its setup, which makes it easy to use for meeting up, taking a short break, or slowly enjoying a drink. Being able to savor a beer filled with this kind of brewing care while drinking it on draft is one of the pleasures unique to a directly operated shop.
