North Island Beer (Ebetsu, Hokkaido) will open its factory outlet on May 24 and operate from 10:00 to 17:00, the same hours as a regular Saturday. The move was announced in response to the cherry blossom viewing planned for tomorrow being postponed because of bad weather, with the intention of giving something back, even a little, to those who had taken time off for the event.

On the day, beer will be sold by weight at 1 yen per gram, and plastic cups will be available for 400 yen. The limited-edition beer "Haruyoi", which had been prepared for the cherry blossom viewing, will also be available. In the post, the brewery says it would be happy if people enjoyed drinking at home during the day, and is encouraging customers to visit.

The factory outlet is located on the 1st floor of Ambitious Plaza, 11-5 Motomachi, Ebetsu City. North Island Beer is a Hokkaido brewery founded in 2002, and in addition to its five standard beers, it also produces limited brews and seasonal beers. As an opportunity to directly pick up beer made in Ebetsu at the brewery itself, this direct sales day is likely to draw attention.

Details about the postponement of the cherry blossom viewing are scheduled to be announced on May 25.
