Re-releasing the limited-brew Belgian Saison

Nagahama Roman Beer will begin shipping its limited-brew beer "BELGIAN SAISON" in stages from April 21. This beer marks a long-awaited return for the company and highlights the dry, refreshing drinking experience that defines Belgian Saison.

Belgian Saison is a style that originated in Wallonia, Belgium, where it was brewed by farm families during the winter off-season and enjoyed as a source of hydration during summer farm work. It is characterized by using plenty of hops to improve keeping quality and fermenting the sugars thoroughly to create a light, crisp flavor. In this limited release, fresh aromas from Belgian yeast are layered with grapefruit-like brightness and peppery spiciness.

Product specifications are as follows: 5% alcohol by volume, 350 ml can, suggested retail price of 550 yen before tax. It should be refrigerated, and its shelf life is 180 days from the production date. Ingredients are malt and hops, and the beer style is Belgian Saison.

Chief brewer Hiroki Ueda commented that he is delighted to be able to re-release the Belgian Saison, for which he designed the recipe for the first time, and said he aimed to create a light, refreshing flavor suited to the coming season. He noted that it pairs well not only with a walk or a short break, but also with fried foods and spicy dishes.

Nagahama Roman Beer was founded in 1996 in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture. With a brewery and restaurant on site, it has preserved its core beers while also working on limited-brew releases. In 2026, the company will celebrate its 30th anniversary, continuing its path as a brewery rooted in Nagahama. This Belgian Saison also appears to be a beer that reflects that accumulated history of limited brewing.
