Spicy Brothers releases fishing-themed Saison 「釣」
Murakami, Niigata brewery Spicy Brothers has released Saison 「釣」. The new beer is 7% ABV and 30 IBU, designed around the quiet focus and brief thrill of fishing, and supervised by local pro angler Masakazu Homma.
Spicy Brothers, Murakami’s first microbrewery, began selling its original craft beers in January 2026 with a focus on beers that fit alongside hobbies and time spent outdoors. Its latest release is Saison 「釣」.
The brewery frames the beer as an expression of fishing itself. In the caption, it describes the stillness before dawn, the sound of a river, the scent of the sea, and the small tug felt through the rod as part of a fisherman’s memory. The flavor build centers on Motueka for lime-like brightness, Riwaka for vivid citrus, and Nelson Sauvin for white grape and gooseberry notes, rounded out by gentle spice from Belle Saison yeast.
The beer comes in at 7% ABV and 30 IBU. Its dry, lively finish and bright carbonation are meant to echo the feeling after a day on the water. It was supervised by Niigata-based professional angler Masakazu Homma, with label production support from Chase After and Michidaze.
It is a clear fit for Spicy Brothers’ hobby-centered brewing philosophy, adding another distinctive release from Murakami.
