Taru Taru, a beer pub located in Kawaramachi, Takamatsu, Kagawa, is featuring Enmusubi Stout from Matsue Beer Hearn.

Enmusubi Stout is a stout inspired by the black beers of Ireland. Roasted malt brings a toasty aroma and flavor, while lactose, used in the traditional milk stout method, gives the beer a soft and mellow mouthfeel. Although it retains the roasted character expected from a stout, its bitterness is restrained, making it an approachable option even for drinkers who normally avoid dark beer.

Matsue Beer Hearn recommends pairing the beer with fragrant nuts, cheese, and rice crackers. Its milky character is also suited to oysters, while soy-based dishes, soba-dashi flavors, and braised pork are suggested as additional matches. Taru Taru also offers boiled Oma-size peanuts with salt, a simple snack that should complement the stout’s gentle sweetness and roast character.

Another recommended serve is a half-and-half with pilsner. The combination brings together the stout’s roasted depth and the pilsner’s lighter, more refreshing character, creating a playful pairing of two beers.

Enmusubi Stout has also been presented as a decorated beer, winning the Asia Champion title in 2015 and the Japan Champion title in 2018 in the Milk Stout category at the World Beer Awards. Beer lovers visiting Taru Taru can explore it with food or try the half-and-half serve. Availability should be confirmed with the pub before visiting.
