Amaterasu Brewery, located in Enoshima, Fujisawa City, Kanagawa, unveiled its new 'Stepway' on Instagram on April 16. Known as the only craft brewery on Enoshima Island, the brewery continues to make a wide range of beers, including both core and limited releases.
This 'Stepway' is presented as BRAGGOT W/ English Tea 9%. Braggot is a style somewhere between mead and beer. The post explains that honey is used both for fermentation and sweetness, with English tea and a small amount of orange peel layered in, followed by about a month of aging. Also notable is that it was finished with inspiration from draft mead.
As for the flavor direction, it is described as something to enjoy slowly rather than something to drink down quickly. With an alcohol content of 9%, it seems well suited to a closing drink or a relaxed after-dinner moment. In addition to draft service, it will also be available in cans, so you can enjoy it not only by trying it in the taproom but also by taking it home and savoring it at your leisure.
Amaterasu Brewery has released distinctive beers shaped by the atmosphere of the sea and culture of Enoshima. 'Stepway' also joins the lineup as a beer that follows that same path.
