Kyoto Beer Lab Announces Gold and Bronze at IBC2025, Reveals Two Award-Winning Beers
Kyoto brewery Kyoto Beer Lab, located in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto, reported its IBC2025 awards on Instagram on February 15, 2026. The gold medal went to "Flanders Ned," and the bronze medal to "Re Animate (Kishikaisei)." Attention is now focused on the strength of these two beers, selected in a global judging competition.
Kyoto Beer Lab, based in Jūzenjichō, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City, announced its double win at The International Beer Cup 2025 in an Instagram post.
The award-winning beers revealed in the post are the following two:
- Gold: Flanders Ned
Belgian-Style Flanders Oud Bruin or Oud Rood Ale category
- Bronze: Re Animate (Kishikaisei)
English-Style Mild Ale category
The competition is an international contest that draws more than 1,500 entries from 22 countries around the world. In Kyoto Beer Lab's post, the brewery said that being recognized in this long-established judging event will serve as motivation for future brewing. The award results can also be confirmed in IBC2025's public materials, where Flanders Ned is listed as GOLD and Re Animate as BRONZE.
Kyoto Beer Lab is known as a brewpub along the Takase River, within walking distance of Kyoto Station, and its appeal lies in being able to enjoy house-brewed beer in the heart of Kyoto. What makes these two beers especially interesting is that their style directions are clearly different. Tasting a Flanders-style beer with red-brown sour complexity alongside a traditional British Mild Ale makes the brewery's sense of design stand out even more.
Availability varies from day to day, so it is best to check the official social media accounts or store information before visiting. With these awards as a catalyst, Kyoto Beer Lab is certainly worth following across both its regular and limited releases.
