Newly Tapped Guest Beer
At the beer pub "Half Yard Shiki" on the 3rd floor of the Hayashi Building in Honcho, Shiki City, Sankt Gallen's fruit beer "Shonan Gold" has been tapped. On the store's Instagram, on April 29, it was introduced under staff member "Hikage's" name as a "newly connected beer."
"Shonan Gold" is brewed with a rare orange developed and cultivated in Kanagawa. Not only the juice, but also the peel and pulp are added to the wort and simmered before fermentation, which is said to bring out the citrus aroma strongly. The appeal lies in its drinkability: a fragrant orange impression followed by bitterness from the peel, keeping it from leaning too much toward sweetness.
Half Yard Shiki is known as a beer pub where you can enjoy craft beer around Shiki Station. It carries a wide range of beers from around the world, and its strength is that you can drink leisurely with meals and snacks. Seasonal guest kegs like this one add to the fun of choosing your glass for the day.
The post also described this beer as "limited for the season" and noted that it may sell out quickly. If you're looking for a fruit beer with a pronounced citrus aroma, it's worth checking out while the keg is still flowing.
