New Arrivals
Izuya Shoten in Nakanobu, Tokyo, has added four beers from Shizuoka-based REPUBREW. Because the shop also offers paid tastings on site, it is easy to compare styles before choosing what to take home or drink there.
The first highlight is `CONIX BRUT IPA`. It is described as having aromas of white grape and mandarin, with a gentle pine note reminiscent of cedar wood. The beer is presented as very dry, with sharp carbonation and a crisp, refreshing bitterness.
Next is `WILD FUNKYARD CHERRY / Fruit Sour`, a cherry sour built on fresh acidity from Philly sour yeast. Cherry added during fermentation brings a bright fruit aroma, while oak extract adds barrel-like depth. The result is dry and tight on the palate, yet aromatic and expressive.
The lineup is rounded out by the regular `69IPA` and `Numazu HAZY IPA`. For IPA drinkers, that means both a classic, bitter-leaning option and a hazier, juicier direction from the same brewery.
As a beer pub, Izuya Shoten is a place where customers can not only buy beer, but also taste it on the spot and compare different styles. This batch shows REPUBREW's range clearly, from an ultra-dry BRUT IPA to a fruit-forward sour and two core IPA offerings.
