At the brewpub Rikuzentakata Microbrewery, located inside the fermentation park CAMOCY in Kesennuma Town, Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, sales have begun for a new batch of the craft beer "Ipponmatsu Ale," which contributes to donations.
For this batch, the fermentation temperature and production methods were reviewed, resulting in a beer with a clearer flavor. It is introduced as an English IPA inspired by the sea and the earth, with a firm bitterness at its core and subtle hints of pine and grapefruit. Since it comes in 500 ml bottles, it is also well suited to beer lovers who want to take their time enjoying it.
"Ipponmatsu Ale" is a beer named after the single pine tree, a symbol of Rikuzentakata's recovery. Because part of the sales is donated to the NPO Takata Matsubara o Mamoru Kai, enjoying it also means directly supporting the local community. In addition to being sold in-store, it can also be purchased online and at Michi-no-Eki Takata Matsubara, making it convenient not only for drinking on site but also for taking home or giving as a gift.
With the close connection that only a brewpub attached to a brewery can offer, Rikuzentakata Microbrewery delivers a beer tied to the local landscape. When visiting the brewpub, it is worth savoring not only the beer itself but also the story that the land of Rikuzentakata has built up over time.
