A seasonal release at Yamorido
At Yamorido, a brewpub in Kyoto's Fushimi area, the house beer Chakabuki has appeared in a special version called Chakabuki New Tea Ver.. According to the post, this batch uses fresh tea leaves from Uji karigane tea and is presented as a limited, seasonal release.
The beer is a Japanese-style saison with 5.5% ABV and 24 IBU. To bring out the character of the new tea, the recipe was adjusted so that tea, yuzu, and yeast would stay in balance. The brewery also increased the tea amount to 1.3 times the usual level.
The flavor profile centers on fresh tea aroma, a firm tea bitterness, yuzu peel brightness, and yeast-derived spicy notes. Rather than leaning only into freshness, the beer is built to leave a clean but lingering tea finish. It keeps the identity of the regular Chakabuki while highlighting the vivid, leafy character of new tea.
Yamorido operates in a historic machiya that once housed an old tea shop, and tea is still sold inside the venue. That background makes this release feel especially natural. For drinkers looking for a beer that reflects Kyoto's tea culture as well as its brewing scene, this is a noteworthy tap announcement.
