Sakazuki Lab, a beer bar in Adachi, Tokyo, started an IPA-themed program on Wednesday, August 19. In its Instagram post, the venue said it would open at 5:00 p.m. and run the IPA festival until the beers sell out.
The tap list includes Fumino's graduation beer, Hangover, Sakazuki's own IPA selections from hidden casks, and the guest beer Punk IPA. Other featured beers include Stardust, presented as a new-vs-old batch comparison, Twilight, described as combining tropical hops and tropical yeast, and after the rain, a bitter IPA made with Tosa buntan citrus. The lineup is designed as a walk through different IPA styles and expressions.
Food pairings on the day include Buffalo Chicken Wings and Chilled Pork Shabu with Bitter Melon and Grated Ponzu. The spicy, tangy wings and the lighter, refreshing pork dish are both meant to work alongside hop-forward beers.
Sakazuki Lab is linked with sister venue Sakazuki Brewing, giving the area a local craft-beer hub feel. For beer fans, the event offers a chance to compare house beers, guest beer, and seasonal releases in one place.
