Yoho Brewing introduces the Slow Beer Glass to encourage a slower drinking pace
Yoho Brewing, based in Saku, Nagano, introduced the Slow Beer Glass, a sandglass-shaped vessel that lets beer flow little by little. Developed with Tokyo Glass Art Institute, it is designed to support slower, more mindful drinking.
A glass that slows the flow
Yoho Brewing's Slow Beer Glass has a narrow waist that limits how quickly beer can pass through. The result is a deliberately hard-to-drink glass that naturally slows the drinking pace. Its upper bowl is shaped a bit like a wine glass, helping the aroma open up as you drink.
A design tied to responsible drinking
The glass was created with responsible drinking in mind. Yoho Brewing focused on the idea that drinking speed is one of the main reasons people drink more than they intend to. To refine the concept, the company adjusted the narrow section in millimeter increments during prototyping. In testing, most participants described it as difficult to drink from, which was exactly the point.
Very much in Yoho's style
Based in Saku, Nagano, Yoho Brewing is known for craft beers such as Yona Yona Ale. But the company has also built a reputation for making beer culture itself more playful and engaging. This glass fits that approach: it is not just about the drink, but about changing how people experience it.
Developed together with Tokyo Glass Art Institute, the Slow Beer Glass is a small but distinctive example of how craft breweries can connect flavor, design, and drinking manners in one object.
