New Tap

At the brewpub "Kanpai! Brewing (1F/Granzu)" in Sekiguchi, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, "Berry Berry Slope Acai Bowl Smoothie Sour" has newly gone on tap. The post describes it as a 5% smoothie sour, brewed by fermenting a wort made with plenty of barley and wheat using sour yeast. It is then blended with acai, blueberry, banana purée, yogurt (sour base), and almond milk.

It is designed with a balance of sweetness and acidity in mind, and is introduced as having a dessert-like cohesion while still pairing well with meat dishes. Rather than relying only on the thickness of the fruit, its defining feature seems to be the combination of a clear acidic edge and a milky mouthfeel.

"Kanpai! Brewing (1F/Granzu)" is a brewpub with its own brewery attached. Located in the Waseda and Edogawabashi area along the Kanda River, its appeal is that you can enjoy freshly brewed beer at Granzu on the first floor. The warm wooden storefront and the calm atmosphere centered on craft beer make it a place suited to days when you want to slowly savor a glass.

This tap release is something not to miss for anyone seeking rich fruit character and gentle acidity. Rather than the usual pale ale or IPA, it is a beer to watch as a way to enjoy Kanpai! Brewing's individuality from a slightly different angle.
