Two citrus-forward beers for summer

MOKICHI KAMAKURA is a beer pub in a renovated former water pump station in Kamakura. The brick exterior and open interior give it a distinctive atmosphere, while its brewery-style dishes built around herbs and fermented ingredients make it a natural place to enjoy beer with food.

In the latest announcement, Shonan Beer’s seasonal Summer Orange Ale is set to go on sale on July 9, 2026. It is described as a fruit ale based on a golden ale recipe, brewed with 300 kg of New Summer Orange (also known as hyuganatsu). The beer uses Mosaic, Citra, and El Dorado hops, and comes in at 5% ABV. The emphasis is on bright citrus aroma and a balanced sweet-tart fruit character.

The same post also notes a draft opening of Kira-boshi Natsumikan Sour from Tochigi-based Ushitora Brewery. It is introduced as a long-running summer favorite, making it the guest beer side of the lineup with a tart, citrus-driven profile.

For anyone passing through Kamakura, the pairing of a seasonal house beer and a guest sour makes this a straightforward stop for summer beer fans, especially if you want to explore citrus and fruit-led styles alongside the restaurant’s food.
