A mentor-apprentice collaboration comes to life

At After School Brewery in Ikejiri-Ohashi, Setagaya Ward, a collaboration brew by two people in a mentor-apprentice relationship has begun. In a post, it was introduced that Ben Emrich, the former head brewer of Open Air Brewing who had a major influence on Andy, captain brewer, during the time he worked as a brewer in Kansai, visited as a guest.

The beer that was brewed

This time’s brew is WC Pilsner (West Coast Pilsner). It is a lager style with crispness and aroma as its appeal, and it promises a light-drinking character with distinct hop expression. The post also described it as "a special pint where the techniques passed down from a master and Andy’s sensibility blend together," suggesting that both the individuality and the sense of inheritance that the brewery team values are reflected in the recipe.

A beer that feels true to After School Brewery

After School Brewery is a brewery inside HOME/WORK VILLAGE, a space that retains the atmosphere of a former school site, and true to its name, its charm is an easygoing vibe like stopping by after class. In this unique space, which is a former staff room, the blackboard and the memories of the school building remain part of the brewery’s identity.

The lager-style WC Pilsner will not be ready to drink right away and will need a little time before it is complete. But that also means there is the pleasure of waiting for the finished result, born from the overlapping experience of mentor and apprentice. In Ikejiri-Ohashi, this is one pint to watch as the memories of school and the present of craft beer intersect.
