A new seasonal beer, “Dortmunder,” will debut on Friday, March 27 at Mainschloss, a brewery in Chuo Ward, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Brewed for the brewery’s 29th anniversary, this special lager delivers a full sense of the richness and umami derived from malt.

This Dortmunder has body, but because it has been filtered, it finishes clean. With its golden brilliance and rich flavor, it offers the drinkability typical of a lager while also showcasing the depth of malt. As a new limited seasonal release, it is a beer that beer lovers will want to keep an eye on.

It will be available not only as draft at the restaurant, but also as bottled beer. Prices are 530 yen for 300 ml and 870 yen for 500 ml at the restaurant, and 627 yen for a 330 ml bottle (tax included). It is perfect for lingering over in the dining room, and the bottled version is also well suited to the coming cherry-blossom viewing season.

Pairings with food were also suggested, with recommendations to enjoy it alongside meat dishes such as Mainschloss sausage and Schweinshaxe. One of the charms of a brewery restaurant is being able to enjoy freshly brewed beer together with hearty dishes.

If you are looking for a seasonal lager in Hamamatsu, Mainschloss’s “Dortmunder” is not to be missed. As a beer brewed for the 29th anniversary, it is a news item that conveys the brewery’s character and the confidence of its brewing.
