Wolffbräu, a brewpub located in Shuri, Naha, Okinawa, is presenting the complete six-beer Shuri Series.
The series began with Shuri Red, Shuri Yellow, and Shuri no Kaze, which were completed just before the Shuri Castle fire. Originally planned for presentation at the Shuri Castle Festival, the beers later became known as beers supporting Shuri. In 2021, the three original beers received the Naha Mayor’s Award as the “Shuri Trilogy.”
The lineup starts with Shuri Red, an amber ale with a rich malt character and amber color. Shuri Yellow is a Kölsch with floral notes and a crisp, refreshing finish, while Shuri no Kaze is a bright, refreshing ale inspired by the wind flowing through Shuri’s elevated landscape.
The newer beers broaden the range: Shuri Hazy is a hazy IPA with tropical hop character; Shuri Lager is an original lager built around a clean, crisp finish; and Shuri Black is a black IPA combining roasted, burnt notes with tropical hop nuances.
With styles ranging from light and refreshing to malt-forward, roasty, and hop-driven, the series offers plenty of room for comparison. Visitors to Shuri can enjoy the beers at Wolffbräu’s brewpub while connecting the flavors with the neighborhood’s story.
The beers are available in cans, bottles, and kegs for wholesale service. Six-bottle and 12-bottle gift boxes are also offered through the brewery’s online shop.
