15brewery, a small brewery in Horinouchi, Hayama, is offering five beers for takeaway by weight. The listed sales hours are 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The standing bar is currently closed, and the brewery is operating as takeaway sales only.
The lineup includes the Belgian-style beer Numa no Soko, Stout, Raw Red Ale, Dondanba Ale (Summer Orange Ale), and Raw Hazy IPA.
Numa no Soko uses a generous amount of wheat malt, along with orange peel, coriander seed, chamomile, clove, lime from Owase in Mie Prefecture, and honey from Hachigoya in Nagai, Yokosuka. It is described as having slight sweetness and acidity with complex, spicy flavors and aromas.
Stout offers a deep body and rich flavor. Raw Red Ale is brewed using a raw ale process in which the wort is not boiled, highlighting the malt’s dense, full flavor and aroma. Dondanba Ale uses summer oranges from Hayama, giving it a refreshing finish. Some of the ingredients in both Dondanba Ale and Raw Hazy IPA include baguette from Miura bakery Mitsumugi.
Raw Hazy IPA is also made with the raw ale process. Its hop character brings citrus and pine-like aromas, balanced by a slight bitterness.
The price is ¥2.2 per gram or milliliter for Stout and ¥2.5 for each of the other four beers. Customers should bring a sealable container that can be filled completely. Carbonated-drink PET bottles and screw-top glass bottles are accepted. Bottled beer is currently out of stock.
