Awaji Brewery, based in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture, will bring back its Golden Ale for island-only sales starting June 3, 2026. The beer will be available at Awaji Highway Oasis and waSTEP AWAJISHIMA, priced at 600 yen for 330ml.
Golden Ale is a style known for its pale color and easy-drinking character. Hop aroma and bitterness are kept modest, while malt sweetness and aroma come through clearly, making it approachable for people who are new to craft beer. It also pairs well with food, especially dishes such as fried chicken, white fish fritters, and tempura.
Awaji Beer is the only craft beer brand from Awaji Island, with origins dating back to 1998. It is brewed at AWAJIBREWERY, opened in 2019, and is made without heat treatment and without filtration so the living yeast character remains in the beer. The brewery also uses its signature "Island Method," in which the yeast is fermented and matured while listening to the sounds of the sea surrounding Awaji Island.
With Golden Ale returning, the lineup expands to eight beers, including Pilsner, Red Ale, Weizen, Alt, Pale Ale, Shima Lemon, IPA, and now Golden Ale. As a limited local release, it adds another option for visitors looking for an Awaji Island souvenir with a clear regional identity.
